JUSTICE BREYER AND MAJORITY OF AMERICANS AGREE: IT’S TIME FOR SUPREME COURT TERM LIMITS

WASHINGTON – Stand Up America’s Managing Director of Policy and Political Affairs, Brett Edkins, released the following statement in reaction to former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s endorsement of Supreme Court term limits:

“We applaud Justice Breyer for acknowledging the need for Supreme Court term limits, echoing the sentiments of the majority of Americans. With recent polling showing 7 in 10 voters support term limits, it’s clear that reforms are necessary to depoliticize the Supreme Court, prevent justices from clinging to power indefinitely, and protect our fundamental freedoms. It’s time for Congress to heed Americans’ calls for reform by passing term limits for Supreme Court justices.” 

Earlier this year, Stand Up America launched a mobile billboard and a six-figure digital advertising campaign in support of Supreme Court term limits. Stand Up America’s members across the country have sent nearly 180,000 emails urging their representatives to support Supreme Court term limits.
