NEW YORK — After Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker signed H4820 into law yesterday, Stand Up America Political Director Brett Edkins today released the following statement:

“By enacting this bill, Governor Baker and his colleagues in the Massachusetts House and Senate have committed to helping preserve our democracy amid a worsening pandemic—and other states must follow their lead. This legislation serves as a marker for states across the country to ensure voters receive a mail-in ballot application, can track their ballots online, and have safe in-person early voting options this fall.

“As COVID-19 cases surge from coast to coast, no voter should have to risk their health to cast their ballot. It’s time for every state to follow the lead of states like Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, and West Virginia in swiftly expanding access to the ballot before it’s too late.”
