NEW YORK — Tonight, Stand Up America celebrated Democrat Tom Suozzi’s win in the special election to replace disgraced former congressman George Santos in New York’s 3rd congressional district. Suozzi defeated Mazi Melesa Pilip, an untested Republican candidate backed by anti-abortion extremists.

“Voters in NY-3 have chosen a leader who will stand up for our democracy and our fundamental freedoms. Suozzi’s victory sends a powerful message that voters have had enough of the lies, corruption, and extremism of House Republicans.

“Now we’ll get to work building on the momentum of this win to elect democracy defenders up and down the ballot in November and end MAGA control of the House of Representatives. Flipping the House and defeating Donald Trump is the only way we can protect the future of our democracy and our fundamental freedoms.”
