WASHINGTON, D.C. — Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge issued the following statement ahead of Donald Trump’s appearance in a federal court in D.C. Trump faces four criminal counts for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

“At long last, Donald Trump is seeing the inside of a courtroom for leading a criminal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election and the will of the American people. These serious crimes cannot go unpunished, and accountability is critical to protecting our democracy and future elections. 

“It is shameful that Kevin McCarthy and his fellow MAGA Republicans are rushing to defend Trump instead of our democracy and our freedom to vote. If there was ever a moment for our leaders to put country ahead of party, this is it. Our elected officials must allow the trial to unfold without political interference and let a jury of everyday Americans do their job.”
