After the Democratic National Convention highlighted Donald Trump’s efforts to undermine mail-in voting and urged Americans to make a plan to vote before November, Stand Up America Managing Director Christina Harvey issued the following statement:
“Donald Trump is a hypocrite and a liar who’s attempting to make it more difficult for Americans to vote in this election. We applaud the DNC for fact-checking Trump’s outrageous claims about mail-in voting and encouraging Americans to make a plan to vote early—whether they do it in person or by mail.
“For 97 days, Mitch McConnell has blocked the HEROES Act from coming to a vote in the Senate, a bill that would provide critically-needed resources to the U.S. Postal Service and $3.6 billion in funding for states to administer safe and accessible elections this fall. It is unconscionable that McConnell is holding our democracy hostage and allowing Trump to sabotage the Postal Service for his own gain.
“Every American should be able to safely exercise their right to vote during this pandemic—and it’s far past time for the Senate to act.”
