NEW YORK — After both chambers of Congress passed an interim coronavirus response package, Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge released the following statement:
“It is incredibly disappointing that Congress has failed to protect our democracy in this deal. This package does nothing to provide states with the resources they need to expand vote-by-mail, early voting, and online registration.
“We are running out of time—and if Congress doesn’t immediately provide election assistance to the states, then the chaos voters experienced in Wisconsin will be the tip of the iceberg.
“The price to ensure every eligible American can exercise their right to vote this year is $4 billion. That’s a small price to pay to preserve our democracy.”
