NEW YORK — Following reports that Georgia’s Secretary of State will mail absentee ballot request forms to all active voters, Stand Up America Political Director Brett Edkins released the following statement:
“The stakes in this election could not be higher—and states should do everything in their power to ensure that all eligible Americans are able to vote, especially given the growing health crisis keeping Americans in their homes. We commend Georgia for expanding access to absentee voting and urge all states to swiftly implement no-excuse absentee voting by mail, online voter registration, and expanded early voting so that all eligible voters can safely access the ballot.
“We also urge federal lawmakers to provide adequate funding so that every state can implement these vital reforms.”
Last week, Stand Up America launched a national campaign urging federal lawmakers to swiftly pass legislation that would provide states funding to implement no-excuse absentee voting and vote-by-mail.
