MADISON—Tonight, Stand Up America celebrated Judge Susan Crawford’s victory over Judge Brad Schimel, who was backed by both Donald Trump and Elon Musk-aligned groups who funnelled $21 million into Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race.
Stand Up America’s Executive Director, Christina Harvey, issued the following statement on today’s victory:
“This election was a high-stakes battle for democracy in Wisconsin – and voters won. MAGA billionaires, including Elon Musk, attempted to buy a seat on the court to roll back Wisconsinites’ freedoms, make it harder for them to vote in future elections, and return Wisconsin to a system where gerrymandered maps let politicians pick their voters. Judge Susan Crawford’s victory is a powerful rebuke of Musk and Trump’s agenda and a major win for democracy.
“Judge Susan Crawford will now continue to serve the public, safeguard fair elections, and protect abortion access and Wisconsinites’ freedom to vote from the highest court in the state.”
Stand Up America partnered with A Better Wisconsin Together, America Votes Wisconsin, Swing Left, and the Wisconsin Working Families Party to get out the vote for Judge Susan Crawford. Stand Up America’s nearly two million community members signed up for thousands of volunteer shifts and wrote nearly 18,000 handwritten letters to educate Wisconsin voters about the importance of the race.
