Stand Up America Urges Senate Democrats to Block Bill and Protect Freedom to Vote

WASHINGTON, DC — Stand Up America Executive Director Christina Harvey issued the following statement after House Republicans passed the SAVE Act (H.R.22):

“Every House Republican just voted to block thousands of their own constituents from accessing the ballot box, targeting married women who’ve changed their names, rural voters who live far from election offices, and anyone without a passport or birth certificate with their current name. They want to pass this bill off as election security, but it’s voter suppression, plain and simple.

“Tens of millions of eligible American citizens could be blocked from voting if this bill becomes law. Democrats in the Senate must make good on their promise to stop the SAVE Act and protect every eligible American’s freedom to vote.”
