WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Senate Republicans advanced the nomination of Kash Patel as FBI Director. A final vote is expected to take place on Thursday.
Stand Up America’s Managing Director of Policy and Political Affairs, Brett Edkins, released the following statement after Republicans advanced Patel’s nomination:
“Senate Republicans love to call themselves the party of ‘law and order,’ but today they proved otherwise by advancing the nomination of Kash Patel—an unqualified extremist who wants to turn the FBI into Trump’s personal weapon for revenge.
“Unlike every other FBI Director in history, Patel has no senior law enforcement experience, and those who know him best say he’s dangerously unfit for the job. He will make America less safe, and rejecting his nomination should be a no-brainer.
“Not a single Senate Republican voted against advancing Kash Patel’s nomination–not even Senators who warned of the ‘dire’ consequences of politicizing the FBI. They’re now paving the way for someone who has openly vowed to purge the bureau of anyone deemed insufficiently loyal to Trump. Republicans talk of law and order, but if they confirm Patel later this week, then every American will know it’s all just empty rhetoric.”
Stand Up America’s grassroots community has rallied against Kash Patel’s nomination to lead the FBI. In just two weeks, Stand Up America members have driven nearly 90,000 emails and nearly 17,000 calls to Senate offices, urging lawmakers to reject Patel’s confirmation.
