This election “dictates who gets the right to put up the next person for Supreme Court.”

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Three Philadelphia women of color share why they’re voting for Kamala Harris with a clear message for Pennsylvanians: the future of reproductive rights hangs in the balance. These voters, including a practicing gynecologist, speak out on the Supreme Court’s role in overturning Roe v. Wade, highlight the role the next president will have in appointing Supreme Court justices, and the importance of electing leaders committed to protecting abortion access. Watch the interviews on Instagram or download them here.

“This is the most important election that there is. It tops all of them. That vote dictates who gets the right to put up the next person for Supreme Court,” says Paulette Whitfield, a voter from Philadelphia. “Vote your conscience. You’re living in America. You get the right to make that decision as to how your world is going to be.”

“Abortion care is life-saving. It’s life-affirming and life-changing,” argues Dr. Sameera Mokkarala, a gynecologist in Philadelphia. “Almost always, this has gotten litigated at the level of the Supreme Court. We are resting on Supreme Court precedent, and we are resting on a group of people who say that they’re going to respect that precedent, and have shown us time and time again that they actually don’t.”

Another Philadelphia voter, Caroline Jones, says, “I’m voting for Kamala Harris because I deserve to live in a country where women’s bodily autonomy is not up for debate.”

With Election Day just hours away, these voices offer a compelling reminder that this vote impacts the nation’s highest court and the future of reproductive freedom for all Americans.

In June, Stand Up America launched a Supreme Court Voter campaign, a seven-figure digital effort aimed at educating, registering, and mobilizing voters around the stakes of the Supreme Court for this election. Celebrities and creators, including Barbra Streisand, Andy Cohen, and Dr. Jennifer Lincoln, took to social media to emphasize the stakes of the election and urge Americans to pledge to be a Supreme Court voter. As part of these efforts, Stand Up America placed billboards in Milwaukee and Philadelphia during the MLB playoffs, encouraging voters to visit courtvoter.com to learn more about the stakes of the 2024 election for the Supreme Court.
