NEW YORK — Stand Up America’s Founder and President, Sean Eldridge, released the following statement after Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance refused to answer if Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.
“JD Vance dodged the easiest question of the night. His refusal to acknowledge that Trump lost the 2020 election should be disqualifying. Vance has previously said he would not have certified the valid results of the 2020 election if he was vice president. It is clear that he cannot be trusted to stand up to Trump, uphold his oath of office, and defend our freedom to vote.
“While Vance refuses to stand up for our democracy, Governor Walz has led by example and made Minnesota a national model for protecting the freedom to vote. He signed into law the Minnesota Voting Rights Act, automatic voter registration, and a permanent vote-by-mail option, and he restored voting rights to over 55,000 formerly incarcerated Minnesotans.
“When it comes to protecting our democracy, the choice is clear in this election. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will stand up for American voters, while Donald Trump and JD Vance will continue to do anything to cling to power.”
