TRUMP BOASTS ABOUT OVERTURNING ROE, UNDERSCORES THE SUPREME COURT STAKES IN THIS ELECTION

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Stand Up America Executive Director Christina Harvey issued the following statement in response to Trump’s statements about the Supreme Court in tonight’s presidential debate:

“Tonight, Donald Trump doubled down on his extreme legacy, bragging that he appointed three Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade and stripped abortion access away from millions of American women. 

“By January 2025, four of the nine Supreme Court justices will be in their 70s. If elected, Trump could appoint multiple justices in a second term, impacting our fundamental freedoms for decades to come. From abortion access to voting rights and the freedom to be safe from gun violence, our fundamental freedoms are on the ballot. We must defeat Trump to protect them.”

Since 2021, Stand Up America has been a leading group advocating for Supreme Court reform. Stand Up America conducted a national poll earlier this year, which found that three in four voters (74%) say that the selection and confirmation of Supreme Court justices will be an important consideration for them in voting for both president and U.S. senator in 2024. In June, Stand Up America launched a Supreme Court Voter campaign, a seven-figure digital campaign aimed at educating and mobilizing voters around the stakes of the Supreme Court for this election.
