WASHINGTON, D.C. – Stand Up America Executive Director Christina Harvey issued the following statement ahead of Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance’s speech at the Republican National Convention:

“Tonight, JD Vance will try to cast himself as a principled leader capable of bringing the country together. But let’s be clear: his record reveals a politician willing to say or do anything to gain power. Just a few years ago, Senator Vance was a self-proclaimed ‘Never Trump guy’ who warned that Trump was ‘unfit for our nation’s highest office.’ What changed for Vance? Could it be that the lure of power and Trump’s endorsement was too tempting to resist?

“Vance’s moral corruption doesn’t end there. Trump chose him because he’s openly stated that he would not have certified the 2020 election results if he had been Vice President. His support for abortion bans without exceptions for rape or incest, coupled with his vote against protecting IVF access, demonstrates a disturbing disregard for women’s rights and health. 

“We should remember Vance’s words of warning about Trump and recognize the risk of supporting politicians who put power above principles. We must vote this November to keep JD Vance and Donald Trump out of the White House.”
