PHILADELPHIA, PA – Voters in Delaware County elected Democrat Heather Boyd to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives District 163. Boyd defeated Republican Katie Ford, a candidate who would have given conservatives enough votes to put a statewide abortion ban on the ballot.
Stand Up America spokesperson Sarah Harris issued the following statement on tonight’s victory:
“Heather Boyd’s victory is a powerful reminder that democracy is still alive and well in the Keystone State. Delaware County voters firmly rejected MAGA Republicans’ extreme agenda and sent a powerful message that Pennsylvanians will not stand for any attempts to diminish our fundamental freedoms.
“Boyd will act as a check on conservative efforts to take away reproductive freedom, roll back safety regulations that protect clean air and water, restrict the freedom to vote, and loosen gun safety laws. The stakes were high in this election, and Delaware County voters protected our fundamental freedoms and our democracy.”
Stand Up America members sent over 18,000 peer-to-peer texts to remind voters what was at stake in this election and encourage them to make a plan to vote.
