MANHATTAN GRAND JURY DEMONSTRATES NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW, NOT EVEN DONALD TRUMP

NEW YORK — Stand Up America’s president and founder, Sean Eldridge, issued the following statement after a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict Donald Trump in connection with hush money payments made to an adult film actress in the final weeks of the 2016 presidential race.

“After reviewing all the evidence and interviewing his closest campaign advisers, a grand jury of everyday Americans has determined that there is probable cause that Donald Trump committed a crime. This vote upholds the bedrock principle that no one is above the law–not even a former president. 

“Trump’s call for his supporters to take to the streets echoes his attack on our country on January 6, 2021, and is yet one more example of his contempt for the rule of law and his belief that he should get to play by a different set of rules than every other American. 

“Republican leaders like to call themselves the ‘party of law and order’ and that empty rhetoric is once again being exposed as they rush to side an indicted criminal for perceived political gain instead of standing up for the rule of law.”
