Today, Over 70% of all U.S. House Republicans are Election Deniers
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Representative John Sarbanes (D-MD), civil rights leaders, and voting rights advocates came together to mark the second anniversary of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“Two years ago, a violent mob, incited by President Trump and his allies in Congress, attacked the U.S. Capitol to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Capitol police officers and democracy defenders in Congress, those insurrectionists did not prevail.
“But our democracy remains under threat. MAGA Republicans have continued to sow chaos and destruction. The new Republican majority in the House has already presided over a week of dangerous obstructionism, demonstrating their unfitness to govern on behalf of the American people.
“On this solemn anniversary, we must recommit ourselves to resisting MAGA extremism to prevent another January 6 and to protect our freedoms and our democracy.”
