Incumbent has a proven track record of protecting Minnesota voters
This cycle, Stand Up America’s members took thousands of actions in support of Democracy Defenders in Minnesota
ST. PAUL — Tonight, Stand Up America celebrated the reelection of Steve Simon as Minnesota Secretary of State. Simon defeated Trump-endorsed MAGA candidate Kim Crockett, ensuring Minnesota’s elections remain free and fair and Minnesotans choose their leaders, not the other way around.
This cycle, Stand Up America’s nearly 10,000 members in Minnesota turned out to vote for Simon and sent more than 2,300 personal letters to Minnesota voters to educate them on the stakes of the Secretary of State race. They also submitted nearly 200 letters to the editor in support of Simon and other democracy defenders in the North Star State.
Stand Up America’s Executive Director, Christina Harvey, issued the following statement on tonight’s victory:
“Tonight, Minnesotans across the political spectrum came together to elect a Secretary of State who will protect their fundamental freedoms and the will of the people. Steve Simon has a proven track record of defending the voting rights of all Minnesotans, even in the face of threats from MAGA Republicans. He has championed policies that make elections more accessible and secure and has kept Minnesota’s democracy thriving for the last seven years.
“We’re proud of the work that Stand Up America’s community did to help re-elect Steve Simon. Our members sent thousands of handwritten letters to Minnesota voters and to their local newspapers to urge their friends and neighbors to make their voices heard in this critical race.
“Congratulations to Secretary of State Simon on this well-deserved victory.”
