Congress must restore balance to the Court to protect our fundamental freedoms

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Stand Up America Executive Director Christina Harvey issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“With this decision, the Supreme Court’s extreme right-wing supermajority has struck a tremendous blow to our fundamental freedoms. It is undeniable proof of how broken our nation’s highest court has become.

“Our Court has been overtaken by out-of-control political appointees with an extreme right-wing agenda. If we don’t do something to stop them, they will continue to attack our most basic rights, until we no longer recognize the country we live in. 

“The stakes are high, and we need bold action. To protect our fundamental freedoms, Congress must pass the Judiciary Act and restore balance to the Supreme Court. 

“We know change this big will not happen overnight, but if our lawmakers want us to send them back to Washington this fall, they need to stand up and fight for it.”
