Group Calls On Senate To Prioritize Passing The For The People Act (H.R. 1/S. 1) In Biden’s First 100 Days
Today, on the eleventh anniversary of the Citizens United decision, Stand Up America Managing Director Christina Harvey issued the following statement:
“Under the leadership of the Biden-Harris administration and with a Democratic Congress, we have a tremendous opportunity to undo some of the damage done by the Roberts Court by passing the For The People Act (H.R. 1, S. 1).
“Mitigating the damage Citizens United has done to our democracy won’t be easy, but the critical campaign finance reforms in the For the People Act—including creating a small-dollar matching program and requiring Super PACs to disclose their donors, are an important first step.
“In this defining moment for our country, we need definitive action to expand access to political power, reduce the influence of big money in our politics, and move towards a more representative democracy. That’s why we’re calling on the new Congress to swiftly pass the For The People Act during President Joe Biden’s first 100 days in office.”
