Stand Up America Applauds House Democrats For Re-Introducing For The People Act, Urges Congress To Swiftly Pass Landmark Bill
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Tuesday, January 5, 2021
Following House Democrats re-introducing the For the People Act (H.R. 1), Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and his cronies have spent the past four years abusing their power for personal gain and recklessly undermining our democracy. With the For The People Act (H.R. 1), House Democrats have proposed sweeping anti-corruption legislation that would build our democracy back better by increasing transparency, reducing the impact of big money in our politics, and protecting voting rights.
“We commend House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Administration Committee Chair Rep. Zoe Lofgren, and Democracy Reform Task Force Chair Rep. John Sarbanes for continuing to advance this critical legislation through the halls of Congress, and we applaud the Democratic Caucus for their support of this landmark bill.
“We urge lawmakers in both chambers of Congress to pass this transformative bill and prioritize the work ahead to combat corruption and racist voter suppression, and build a truly representative democracy.”
