Group Activating Over 5,800 Remote Volunteers To GOTV In TX
TEXAS — With early in-person voting having started in Texas today, progressive advocacy group Stand Up America is contacting over 1.3 million eligible voters in the presidential battleground state to encourage them to make a plan to vote before Election Day.
Using an innovative digital organizing campaign, the group is directly contacting voters to help them register from their homes and find their polling place to vote early in person. With recent polling consistently showing a close race in Texas, the group is taking nothing for granted and aims to get voters to the polls to support progressive candidates up and down the ballot who will fight to expand voting rights and defend protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
“For the past four years, John Cornyn has been a yes-man to Donald Trump—from supporting his efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act to confirming his right-wing judges. Now, in the midst of a pandemic, Cornyn is once again conspiring with Trump to put an ultra-conservative justice on the highest court in an effort to strip millions of their health care. Texas deserves real representation in the Senate, not someone who is blindly loyal to Trump—and that means electing MJ Hegar,” said Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge. “Over the next three weeks, as voting continues in Texas, Stand Up America will continue organizing across the state to help Joe Biden win, send MJ Hegar to the Senate, and elect progressives up and down the ballot who will fight to protect Texans’ health care.”
Stand Up America’s program is engaging Black, Latinx, and younger Americans across the state through a massive peer-to-peer SMS texting campaign, digital ads on Facebook and Google, and sending personal letters to unlikely voters encouraging them to cast their ballots this year.
Stand Up America’s seven-figure national campaign will reach over 20 million Americans in Texas and nine other battleground states, including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
