Group Activating Over 5,700 Remote Volunteers To GOTV In AZ
ARIZONA — With early voting having started in Arizona this week, progressive advocacy group Stand Up America is contacting over 420,000 eligible voters in the presidential battleground state to encourage them to vote before Election Day. This month, the group’s 5,700 remote volunteers will text hundreds of thousands of Black, Latinx, and younger Arizonans to help them make a plan to safely cast their ballots as early as possible.
Using an innovative digital organizing campaign to keep organizers and voters safe during the pandemic, the group is directly contacting voters to help them register from their homes, return their absentee ballots as early as possible, and early vote in person. While recent polling consistently shows Joe Biden with a steady lead over Donald Trump nationally and in Arizona, the group is taking nothing for granted and aims to get voters to the polls to support candidates like Joe Biden and Mark Kelly who will fight to expand access to health care, not take it away.
“Since her first day in the Senate, Martha McSally has conspired with Donald Trump to end protections for people with pre-existing conditions and attack reproductive rights. Now, in the midst of an unprecedented public health crisis that’s killed 210,000 Americans, McSally is aiding Trump in confirming a right-wing nominee to the Supreme Court so an ultra-conservative majority can strip millions of their health care and overturn Roe v. Wade,” said Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge. “Arizona needs real representation in the Senate, not an unelected partisan who is blindly loyal to Trump. That’s why Stand Up America is investing in the state to safely get out the vote in the middle of the pandemic to not only help elect Joe Biden, but to ensure that Martha McSally is held accountable at the ballot box for her abdication of leadership.”
Stand Up America’s seven-figure national campaign will reach over 20 million Americans in nine other battleground states, including Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin. This includes a peer-to-peer SMS texting campaign coordinated with 5,700 remote volunteers, digital ads on Facebook and Google, and more than 110,000 hand-written letters to unlikely voters encouraging them to cast their ballots this year.
