Group Activating Nearly 6,000 Remote Volunteers To Encourage Floridians To Vote As Early As Possible
FLORIDA — With early in-person voting starting in Florida this week, progressive advocacy group Stand Up America is contacting over 1.6 million eligible voters in the Sunshine State to encourage them to vote before Election Day. Since launching its electoral program earlier this year, Stand Up America’s volunteers have already contacted nearly 2 million potential voters in Florida with tools to help them register to vote and apply for absentee ballots. The group’s nearly 6,000 remote volunteers will now be texting Black, Latinx, and younger Floridians to help them make a plan to safely cast their ballots as early as possible.
Using an innovative digital organizing campaign, the group is directly contacting voters to help them return their absentee ballots as early as possible and vote early in person. With recent polling consistently showing a close race in Florida, the group is taking nothing for granted and aims to get voters to the polls to support candidates like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who will fight to expand voting rights and defend protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
“For the past four years, Donald Trump has spent more time golfing than working to improve the lives of the people he’s meant to serve—and Floridians know it. From his failed response to the pandemic to his efforts to undermine Social Security and dismantle the Affordable Care Act, Trump has cost Americans their lives and livelihoods,” said Stand Up America spokesperson Ryan Thomas. “Put simply: Florida cannot afford four more years of Donald Trump in the White House. That’s why Stand Up America is investing in the Sunshine State to hold Trump accountable for his recklessness and to send real leaders like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House.”
Stand Up America’s seven-figure national campaign will reach over 20 million Americans in nine other battleground states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin. This includes a peer-to-peer SMS texting campaign coordinated with nearly 6,000 remote volunteers, digital ads on Facebook and Google, and more than 150,000 hand-written letters to unlikely voters encouraging them to cast their ballots this year.
