Group Activating Over 5,800 Remote Volunteers To GOTV In NC
NORTH CAROLINA — With early in-person voting having started in North Carolina this week, volunteers at progressive advocacy group Stand Up America are on target to contact over 2 million eligible voters in the presidential battleground state. Following their voter registration efforts earlier this month, volunteers will now be helping North Carolina voters make a plan to vote early, in person if they can.
Using an innovative digital organizing campaign, including the new webpage NCearlyvote.com, to walk voters through their voting options, the group is directly contacting voters to help them register from their homes, request and return their absentee ballots as early as possible, and early vote in person. With recent polling consistently showing a close race in North Carolina, the group is taking nothing for granted and aims to get voters to the polls to support progressive candidates up and down the ballot who will fight to expand voting rights and defend protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
“During his time in the Senate, Thom Tillis has sided with Donald Trump in every single attempt to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. Now, Tillis is helping ram a right-wing Supreme Court nominee through the Senate to strip millions of people of their health care during a pandemic that has already killed 215,000 Americans. It’s clear that Tillis would rather be a Trump lackey than a public servant fighting to protect the lives and livelihoods of North Carolinians,” said Sean Eldridge, Stand Up America Founder and President. “North Carolina deserves real representation in the Senate—and that’s why Stand Up America is contacting millions of voters in the state to get out the vote, help elect Joe Biden, and ensure that Thom Tillis is held accountable at the ballot box.”
Stand Up America’s program is engaging Black, Latinx, and younger Americans across the state through a massive peer-to-peer SMS texting campaign, digital ads on Facebook and Google, and sending personal letters to unlikely voters encouraging them to cast their ballots this year.
Stand Up America’s seven-figure national campaign will reach over 20 million Americans in nine other battleground states, including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin.
