Coalition Of 100+ Groups Launch Interactive Map Pushing Americans To RSVP To Local Events At ProtectTheResults.com

Groundswell Of Grassroots Activity Comes After Trump, Pence Repeatedly Refuse To Commit To Accepting Results

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Indivisible and Stand Up America are announcing on behalf of the Protect the Results coalition that more than 210 “Count Every Vote” actions are already planned across the country after Election Day should Donald Trump declare victory while votes are still being counted or contest the valid results. The groundswell in grassroots activity comes after Trump and Pence have repeatedly refused to say whether they will accept the results of the election.

Through a new, interactive map on the coalition’s website, the coalition is encouraging Americans to RSVP to local events to help ensure a peaceful transition of power and to demand that every vote be counted. Additional events are being added to the map daily, and a list of current events can be found here.

“With every tweet and refusal to commit to accepting the legitimate election results, Trump is trying to stoke chaos and fear. It’s all he has left in his playbook. But we are ready,” said Sarah Dohl, Co-Founder and Acting Chief Campaign Officer of Indivisible. “Should Trump declare victory before all the votes are counted or prevent the legitimate counting of votes, we will mobilize in every corner of this country to ensure voters have the last word in November.”

“Donald Trump is behind in the polls, he’s desperate, and he’s trying to bully and cheat his way through this election,” said Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge. “The most important thing Americans can do to protect our democracy is to make a plan to vote early and help Joe Biden win in a landslide. But we know that voting alone might not be enough when it comes to defeating Donald Trump—and that’s why we’ll be ready to mobilize to demand that every vote be counted and that state officials, Congress, and the Electoral College honor the final, accurate vote count.”

The grassroots actions are being coordinated by the Protect the Results coalition, which now includes over 100 grassroots organizations, progressive and conservative advocacy groups, government watchdogs, and labor unions. The broad coalition, concerned by Trump’s ongoing efforts to undermine the voting process, is preparing to mobilize millions of Americans while votes are being counted to ensure that Trump is unable to use the power of incumbency to unduly influence the results of the election.

A recent Navigator Research poll found that a large majority of Americans are also concerned with Trump breaking democratic norms, with 64 percent concerned that Donald Trump will not accept the election results if he loses and another 60 percent believing that Trump will attempt to get mail-in ballots thrown out in court.

In prioritizing the health of activists and advocates, the organizations coordinating the actions are asking that all attendees wear face coverings and that anyone who has tested positive for, had known exposure to, or is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of the events opt to participate in remote events and advocacy instead of attending in-person mobilizations.
