Group Helping Constituents Demand GOP Lawmakers Work Towards Deal That Include Election Funds
NEW YORK — After Donald Trump issued executive orders that cut weekly unemployment benefits and fail to help state and local governments protect our elections, Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge released the following statement:
“Donald Trump’s executive orders are reckless, inadequate, and incredibly harmful. Not only do they cut critical unemployment benefits and undermine funding for Social Security, but these orders do nothing to protect our elections, fund the Postal Service, or aid cash-strapped states in dire need of resources.
“Trump’s executive orders are not a substitute for congressional action. Republican lawmakers must return to the negotiating table and pass a comprehensive relief bill that protects our health, our economy, and our democracy.”
This week, Stand Up America is launching a digital organizing campaign to mobilize constituents of GOP lawmakers and drive thousands of phone calls to pressure Senate Republicans to pass a real relief package that includes election assistance and post office funding.
