NEW YORK — In response to former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton saying that he is willing to testify in the Senate impeachment trial, Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge released the following statement:

“The Senate has a constitutional obligation to hold a fair impeachment trial—but Moscow Mitch and Trump’s defenders in the Senate are blatantly rigging the process to cover-up Trump’s crimes.

“John Bolton’s willingness to put country over party by testifying adds enormous pressure on McConnell to work with Democrats to create a fair and transparent process that includes calling firsthand witnesses like Bolton to testify.

“McConnell and his Republican colleagues are the only ones standing in the way of the American people hearing what John Bolton has to say. Will they hold a fair trial that airs the evidence against Trump, or will they enable Trump’s cover-up?

“History is watching what they do next.”
