NEW YORK — Following Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire’s testimony before the House Intelligence Committee and the releases of the bombshell whistleblower complaint, Stand Up America Founder and President Sean Eldridge released the following statement:
“The whistleblower complaint is a smoking gun that proves Donald Trump’s breathtaking abuse of power—and today’s hearing provided even more evidence that Trump has engaged in blatantly impeachable conduct and his White House actively attempted to cover up the evidence.
“Trump’s threat to our democracy is a national emergency, and Congress has no choice but to respond to this crisis by impeaching him. Every lawmaker—regardless of political party—must stand up to defend our Constitution by holding Trump accountable for his crimes and corruption.
“As Chairman Schiff said during today’s hearing, ‘No one, none of us, is above the law.’”
Yesterday, Stand Up America joined By the People and 13 other progressive organizations in sending a letter to Speaker Pelosi urging Congress to cancel recess.
